Mario doesn’t hesitate to endanger his life

Maybe not absolutely mind blowing, but I realized this yesterday, watching Mario Bros by the Gordon College:

In the original Mario Bros, Mario is breaking the blocks not with his head, but with his fist:

However, in SM 64, he doesn’t hesitate to endanger his life :

I dunno when the switch has been done. But trust me Mario, one day you’ll pay the price for crushing your neurons.

This could be a hidden tradition/easter egg when everyone assumed that it was just in SMB.

I think it’s more likely that they noticed that we were making a big deal about it and decided to reference it.

Goombas, Kirby, Pokemon and Pac-man.

Speaking of Goomba, they are actually supposed to be living chestnuts, as their Japanese name is Kuribo, with the Kuri being chestnut.

Other facts of interest:

Kirby’s sprite was originally meant to be a placeholder.

All the maps of the Pokemon handheld games(no spin offs) are based on parts of Japan (with Diamond and Pearl’s Sinnoh region similarity to Hokkaido being the most obvious)

Pac-Man was originally going to be called Puck-Man, but there was worry that the arcade cabinets could be vandalized to have the title end up as something very vulgar.

Cacildo´s note: When was the Scott Pilgrim movie released again?

The bushes in Super Mario Bros. and pokemon reverse names

The bushes in Super Mario Bros. were just recolored clouds.

Ekans backwards is snake.
Girafarig backwards is girafarig.

Cacildo´s note: The image in the original post is broken (after all, its a 3 year old image in a   once free image holder), but since this is a “secret” so widespread across the internet (after this post, i mean) it was easy to get a new one.
